SCALLOPED POTATOES 
1 (2 lb.) pkg. frozen hash browns (thaw first)
1 1/2 sticks butter
1/2 c. finely chopped onion (optional)
8 oz. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
1 tsp. salt
1 pt. sour cream

Break up 1 stick of butter and mix with all ingredients except potatoes. Mix well, then add potatoes. Toss thoroughly. Put in greased casserole dish (approximately 9x13).

Melt remaining 1/2 stick butter and mix with 2 cups crushed corn flakes. Put on top. Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
