HUNGARIAN WALNUT TORTE (MAGYAR
DIOS TORTE)
 
8 eggs, yolks and whites separated
1 c. sugar
1 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. finely ground walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg yolks and sugar until light an creamy. Sift flour and baking powder well. No lumps! Add flour mixture gradually to egg mixture. Add nuts and vanilla. Beat egg whites stiff and fold in egg yolk mixture. Bake in two 9 inch greased and floured pans for 25-30 minutes. Top with powdered sugar and ground nuts if desired.
