BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING 
1/3 c. raisins
5 slices day old bread
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs
2/3 c. sugar
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt

Line bottom of greased baking dish with raisins. Cut bread slices in three strips, crosswise. Dip each in melted butter and arrange on top of raisins. Beat remaining ingredients together and pour over bread. Set dish in a pan with hot water. Bake at 375 degrees until bread is browned and a knife blade comes out clean. Serve plain or with cream. Serves 6.
