BEATER BREAKER COOKIE BARS
5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
2 cups (4 sticks) butter, softened
1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 large eggs
2 cups chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 15x10-inch jelly-roll pan.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. (I find it works best to use a whisk on the beater with the eggs and regular beaters when you add the flour). Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts (if using).

Note: Be careful! They are called beater breakers for a reason!

Spread into prepared pan. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Makes 4 dozen bars.
