STEWART'S ORANGE BREAD | |
Part 1: 4 c. presifted all-purpose flour 1 2/3 c. sugar 6 level tsp. double action baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Mix all together. Part 2: 1 orange, ground (skin and all; enough to make 1 c.) 1 1/2 c. milk 2 eggs 1/2 c. cooking oil Beat eggs in mixing bowl until thick. Add oil slowly and beat 1 minute. Combine part 1 and the cup of orange to the egg and oil mixture. Put on slow speed. Pour milk in slowly; put on second speed and beat 2 minutes. Divide into 3 greased and floured 1 pound loaf pans and allow to stand 20 minutes before baking. Set oven at 400°F. When the loaves have risen to the top of pan and have started to brown slightly, turn your oven to 300°F and score the top once lengthwise with the point of a sharp knife. Bake about 40 minutes more or until done. Allow to stand in pan 10 minutes. |
