PASTIES 
4 c. sifted flour, all-purpose
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. cold water

Mix flour and salt together in bowl, cut in half the shortening until mixture resembles meal, then remaining shortening until particles are size of peas. Add water mixing with fork or hands. Divide into 9 portions. Roll out each into 6 inch circles or squares. Place on baking sheet. Place 1/2 cup filling on lower half of square or round. Moisten edges. Fold upper half on lower half, seal by pressing edges together with floured fork. Prick pastry several times for steam to escape. Bake in moderate oven at 400 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

FILLING:

1 lb. ground chuck
1 1/2 c. onions, chopped
1/4 c. green peppers, sliced
1/2 c. thinly sliced raw carrots
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup or Cream of Chicken soup
Salt & pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in bowl, mix well.
