ALICE'S OATMEAL BATTER BREAD 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 c. rolled oats
1/4 c. molasses
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter or oil
1/4 c. warm water
1 pkg. active dry yeast
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soft butter

1. In medium bowl, pour boiling water over oats. Add molasses, salt and 3 tablespoons of butter, stirring to mix well. Cool.

2. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl of electric mixer, stirring until dissolved.

3. Stir in oatmeal mixture. Gradually add 2 cups flour at medium speed 2 minutes. Mix in the rest of the flour by hand or with the mixer. Let rise twice and bake at 350 degrees F. (loaves), 375 degrees (rolls). (This recipe makes 2 loaves or 24 rolls.) Bake loaves for 40 minutes or rolls for 20 minutes.
