BANANA BRAN NUT BREAD 
1/4 c. vegetable shortening or butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. all bran cereal
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

In a mixing bowl, thoroughly cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg; beat well. Stir in cereal, bananas, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add, with nuts, stirring only until dry ingredients are moistened. Bake in a well greased 4 1/4" x 9 1/4" or similar loaf pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
