CANDIED APPLES 
8 apples and sticks
2 c. sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1 c. water
Few drops red food coloring

Combine sugar, syrup, and water in saucepan. Stir over medium heat until mixture boils; cook without stirring until a small amount separates into threads which are hard but not brittle when tested in cold water (280 degrees). Remove from heat and stir in food coloring. Dip apples in syrup; set on waxed paper to harden.
