APPLE COBBLER
5 c. thinly sliced apples
1/4 c. sugar (a little more if apples are tart)
2 c. biscuit mix
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. water
3/4 c. milk

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Combine apple slices, 1/4 cup sugar, butter, and 1/4 cup water. Bring to boil over medium heat. Let simmer a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour into prepared pan. Meanwhile, combine biscuit mix, 3 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl; mix well. Add milk, all at once, stirring just enough to moisten dry ingredients. Drop by heaping tablespoon onto hot apple mixture. Bake 20 minutes or until topping is golden and firm to the touch. Serve warm with cream or Cool Whip.
