MINCEMEAT BARS 
2 1/2 c. unsifted flour
2 c. quick oats
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 jar (28 oz.) mincemeat
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or almonds
3 tbsp. brandy, rum or apple juice
About 3 tbsp. milk

In a bowl combine flour, oats, sugar and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until its in small particles. Spread half the crumb mixture evenly over the bottom of a 10 x 15 shallow baking pan. Pack lightly. Combine the mincemeat with nuts and brandy and spread evenly over the crumb layer. Sprinkle the remaining half of crumbs evenly over the top and press down lightly with a fork. With a pastry brush dipped in milk, brush top lightly to moisten the surface. Bake in a 400 degree oven 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned.
