PIZZA HORNS
1 1/2 lbs. ground meat
Slices of pepperoni (optional)
1 medium onion
1 garlic clove
Salt and pepper to taste
1 c. pizza sauce
1 c. grated Mozzarella or Provolone cheese

Saute meat with onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Drain. Add pizza sauce. Simmer about 20 minutes. Prepare the following dough recipe. 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. butter 3 eggs, reserve white of 1 egg 1/2 c. sour cream

Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender. Stir in eggs and sour cream. Knead the dough until it forms a smooth ball. Divide dough into three even portions. Roll out each portion into a circle on floured surface. Cut each circle into even wedges (triangle-shaped).

Place 1 tablespoon of filling and grated cheese on each wedge. (Add 1 slice of pepperoni, if desired.) Fold dough toward narrow end, sealing all seams. Place on greased baking sheet. Cover; let rise and brush with egg white. Bake at 375 degrees about 20 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Makes wonderful appetizers. May be frozen and reheated in microwave oven.

Like Pierogi, these horns may be filled with a variety of fillings. Try a taco filling and serve horns with picante sauce. For dessert horns, prepare fruit fillings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
