2 tbsp. cocoa
3/4 c. sugar
3 egg yolks, beaten
2 c. milk
1/3 c. flour
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Cook egg yolks, milk and butter together until hot. Mix together dry ingredients and pour into heated liquid and continue cooking until thick. Add vanilla. Pour into a baked pie shell and top with meringue. Brown in moderate oven. Variation: Coconut can be substituted for cocoa.
