NAOMI'S WHITE CHRISTMAS SUGAR
COOKIES
 
1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3 tsp. vanilla
1 c. powdered sugar
2 eggs
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream together butter, shortening and both sugars. Add vanilla. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until fluffy. Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture, 1 cup at a time. Form dough into walnut sized balls and place on 9 x 13 inch cookie sheet, 4 to a row. Dip bottom of drinking glass in sugar and press down on cookies.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. A glass with a design will make a nice imprint on the cookies. Colored sugar will make the cookies even more festive.
