MISSISSIPPI MUD CAKE 
2 c. plain flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. shortening (2 sticks butter)
1 c. water
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon together. Bring butter, water and cocoa to a boil. Pour over flour mixture. Mix eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour this into other mixture and stir well. Pour into a greased, shallow, oblong pan, 9"x13", and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until cake tests done. Frost cake with the following icing.
