1/2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 c. plain flour Put in large container, cover. Put in refrigerator. Day 2, 3, and 4 - stir; base will be bubbly. Day 5 - add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and stir well and cover. Day 6, 7, 8, and 9 - stir and cover. Day 10 - add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk; stir well. Remove 3 cups base and give away. To remaining base add: 1 1/4 c. sugar 2/3 c. oil 3 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla or almond Use 2 loaf pans or 1 bundt pan. Well greased. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes; you may add nuts, raisins, bananas, 1 cup applesauce, figs, pumpkin or coconut. Before baking, mix: (if desired) 1 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. nuts 1 tbsp. flour Use as a topping; spread evenly over cake. You can also glaze after baking if desired. |
