BROWN SUGAR BROWNIES 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. solid shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. flour

BOTTOM: Separate eggs. Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, white sugar, solid shortening, vanilla, egg yolks, water and stir. Sift together soda, salt and flour and add to the above. Mixture will be stiff. Press into bottom of 9x13 inch greased pan.

TOP: Beat egg whites stiff, add 1 cup brown sugar. Spread over the top of previous layer. Cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut while hot with sharp knife.
