BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE 
3 c. uncooked macaroni
6 tbsp. butter
4 1/2 tbsp. flour
3 c. milk
Salt and pepper (optional)
16 slices American cheese
4 additional slices American cheese for on top

Cook macaroni in boiling water until tender 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and rinse. Make white sauce. Melt butter. Remove from heat and blend in flour until smooth. Add milk slowly and continue stirring so mixture does not get lumpy.

Return to heat, add 16 slides of American cheese and continue cooking over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken. Pour over macaroni in a greased baking dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Serves 8.
