BEEF STEW 
8 (4) strips bacon
3 to 4 tbsp. flour
1 to 2 lbs. stewing beef
2 pkgs. onion soup mix
2 c. water
1 bottle of beer (or 1/2 to 3/4 bottle)
1/2 to 1 tsp. thyme
1/2 to 1 tsp. parsley

Fry bacon until crisp. Fry flour and stewing beef in bacon grease. Place in 3- quart casserole. Crumble bacon over the beef. In saucepan, add onion soup mix and 2 cups water. Boil. Add 1 bottle of beer. Pour over meat. Add thyme and parsley. Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours, uncovered. Serve over cooked rice, noodles or mashed potatoes.
