BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar (I use 1/2 brown sugar)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening (I use butter)
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. mashed, ripe banana
1 3/4 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Cut in shortening with sugar. Add egg, banana, oats, and nuts. Beat until thoroughly blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 400 degree oven about 12 to 15 minutes.
