ITALIAN CREAM CAKE 
5 egg whites
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
5 egg yolks
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can coconut
1 c. nuts, chopped

Combine flour and soda. Beat egg whites, let stand for last thing. Blend shortening, sugar and egg yolks. Add milk, flour, vanilla, nuts and coconut. Fold in egg whites. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

ICING:

1 (8 oz.) pack cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
1 box confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine.
