KAHLUA 
3 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar (opt.)
3 c. boiling water
2 oz. instant coffee (1 c.)
1 fresh vanilla bean

Combine in 3 quart or larger saucepan, bring to a boil, stir constantly, let simmer-boil for 7 minutes. Let completely cool. Pour into a 2 quart beverage container, add 1 quart vodka, 80 to 100 proof. Let stand loosely capped 2 weeks. Makes 1/2 gallon.
