OLD YORKSHIRE FRUIT CAKE | |
1/2 lb. butter 1 c. sugar 5 egg yolks 5 egg whites 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. raisins 1/2 c. currents 1/2 c. candied cherries 1/2 c. walnuts 1/2 tsp. vanilla Beat well; butter, sugar and egg yolks. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in; flour, baking powder, raisins, currants, cherries, then add to butter mixture. Lastly, add above to nuts and vanilla. Bake in greased pan 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 300 degrees. (That is the way this 100 year old recipe reads. I just throw everything together and mix with beater!) |
