PEACH COBBLER 
BATTER:

1 scant c. sugar
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. milk
1/8 tsp. salt

FILLING:

2 c. sliced peaches
1/2 c. sugar

Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Mix with sugar and stir in milk to make batter.

Melt 1/2 cup of butter in an 8 inch deep pan. Pour the batter all around on top of butter - do not stir at all. Over this put 2 cups of sliced peaches that have been mixed well with 1/2 cup sugar. Spoon this over top of batter - do not stir. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. If peaches are real tart, use 3/4 cup of sugar.
