SWEET-SOUR BARBECUE SAUCE 
1 (8 1/2 oz.) can crushed pineapple
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. cider or wine vinegar
1/3 c. coarsely chopped green pepper
1/4 c. chopped maraschino cherries

Drain pineapple, reserving syrup. Add water to pineapple syrup, if necessary, to make 2/3 cup. Combine and mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in small saucepan; stir in pineapple syrup and vinegar. Cook slowly, stirring constantly, until thick and clear. Fold in pineapple, green pepper and maraschino cherries, heat. Yield: About 2 2/3 cups.
