BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
4 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift flour once, measure and sift again with salt, soda and baking powder. Cut in shortenings; add milk gradually to form soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board, roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake in hot oven, 450 degrees 15 minutes.
