PRIDE OF IOWAY COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3 c. quick cooking oats

Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy, beat in eggs. Sift flour with baking powder, soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Blend in vanilla. Mix in coconut, nuts and oats. Blend well.

Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet; flatten with fingers or glass bottom dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees until brown. Cool on wire rack. Um! Um!

I place a half of pecan on top of cookie just flatten with finger as I place on the nut. I also use a full cup of nuts instead of 1/2.
