- Zazarac Cocktail
- An American mixed drink made with absinthe. Mix a dash of absinthe, 1 1/2 oz. bourbon, 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Pour into a chilled Old Fashioned glass with a cube of ice. Add a twist of lemon.

- The colored outer portion of rind of any citrus fruit which contains essential oils, not including the white membrane underneath (or the "pith" which is bitter).
It is scraped off the fruit using a microplane, fine grater, or stripped off in the form of fine shreds using a special tool called a citrus zester.

- A hand tool, similar to a vegetable peeler, but which creates fine strips of peel. A zester enables the easy removal of the zest of citrus fruits.
