BEEF STEW | |
2 lbs. beef roast 6 carrots, sliced 4 potatoes, cubed 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 c. water or stock 1 can beef broth or 1 pkg. beef gravy mix 1 c. flour 1 tsp. pepper Cut fat from meat, heat in fry pan to melt. Dredge cubed beef in flour. Brown a few pieces at a time. Put in casserole or Dutch oven. Add onion to last meat browning. Put water in fry pan, pour over meat. Simmer 2 hours. Add vegetables, cook 1/2 hour. Add beef broth with vegetables. Thicken gravy with flour or gravy mix. |
