BREAD AND BUTTER CUSTARD PUDDING 
6 slices stale bread
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 qt. milk

Spread bread with butter on both sides. Put in a 8 x 8 inch pan. Mix milk, eggs, sugar and salt and pour over bread slices. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees or when a knife inserted comes out clean.

Between the slices you may add: nuts or raisins or 1/2 cup chopped raw apples or 3/4 cup drained fruit cocktail. Good warm or cold. Serve with Cool Whip or ice cream, or caramel sauce or orange sauce. Good and quick to make.
