2/3 c. pancake syrup 1/2 c. butter, softened 3 oz. cream cheese, softened 1 egg 2 c. flour 1 1/3 c. chopped walnuts 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/3 c. fruit preserves, any flavor Powdered sugar (optional) Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat syrup, butter, cream cheese and egg until smooth. Combine flour, nuts, baking powder and salt. Stir into syrup mixture. Chill for 10 minutes. Roll into 1 inch balls; place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press center of each ball with thumb; fill hole with preserves. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are light golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Sprinkle on powdered sugar if desired. |
