1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. diced apples
2 c. seedless raisins
1 c. black walnuts, chopped
4 egg whites, beaten

Cream butter and sugar together, add well beaten egg yolks. Mix soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Add apples and mix well. Sift spices with 2 1/2 cups of flour and mix well into above mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites. Put remaining cup of flour over nuts and raisins. Mix well and add to batter. Pour into well greased and floured funnel pan. Bake in preheated 275 degree oven for 2 1/2 hours.
