CAROB BROWNIES
1/2 lb. butter (8 oz., 1 c.)
1 c. brown sugar (or 3/4 c. honey)
2 lg. eggs
1 c. flour
1/4 c. carob
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter. Remove from heat and add sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Blend flour with carob and fold into mixture. Add vanilla and nuts, mixing well. Pour into greased 6 x 9 inch pan. Bake in 300 degree oven for 45 minutes. Do not over bake as brownies should be chewy.

These are really good though more of a cakey texture than brownie. I used only one stick of butter, honey, and whole wheat flour. I think they're slightly sweet so I might add a little less honey next time. I also have a gas stove and so only cooked them for about 38 minutes.

I love this recipe. My 5 1/2 year new daughter and I have made it together and it is amazing. My husband is always the first one to ask for more every time we find some good recipe. We follow the blood type diet and we have replaced the flour for brown rice flower and the butter for good quality canola oil, and it came out great. You also can try it out for a healthier twist!!!
