SIMPLE SWEET SCONES | |
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 8 tbsp. cold unsalted butter, cut up 1/4 c. sugar 2/3 c. milk Raisins, optional Heat oven to 425 degrees. Put flour, baking powder and salt in bowl and mix. Add butter and cut in with pastry blender (or in food processor). Add sugar and mix. Add milk. Mix briefly. Form dough into ball and put onto floured board and give 10-12 kneads. To make triangular scones - cut dough in half. Knead lightly and press into 6 inch circle. Cut each circle into 6 or 8 wedges. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, slightly apart for crisp sides, touching for soft sides. Bake 12 minutes or until medium brown on top. |
