1 chocolate cake mix or fudge mix
1 can apple or cherry pie filling (chopped up)
3 eggs
1 tsp. almond flavoring or less

Mix all together and stir by hand only (not mixer, but spoon). Use solid shortening to grease pan. Bake in 13x9 pan at 350 degrees about 30 minutes. Test with toothpick; if it comes out clean, it's done. Moist and good even without frosting.

Optional: Make as cookie bars on a cookie pan with sides.

FROSTING (if desired) :
1 c. sugar
5 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. milk

Combine and boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add 1 (6 ounce) package (1 cup) chocolate chips, stirring in until smooth. Pour over cake.
