CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 oz. (sqs.) chocolate
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together. Melt chocolate and shortening and cool slightly. Add sugar, milk, egg, and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix chocolate and shortening into the rest of the ingredients and let stand 10 minutes. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees between 12 and 15 minutes. Makes 36.

FROSTING:

2 sqs. chocolate
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
About 2 tbsp. of milk or coffee
1 lb. powdered sugar

Melt chocolate, butter, and vanilla. Add small amount of milk or coffee, about 2 tablespoons. Mix with 1 pound of powdered sugar and use additional liquid to make frosting spreadable, if needed.
