GRAPEFRUIT BASKETS | |
2 med. to lg. grapefruits Ribbon to tie handles Fresh Fruit Salad (see following recipe) Cut grapefruit in half. Take 2 toothpicks and insert into the grapefruit rind 1/4 inch apart and 1/4 inch from the cut edge. Repeat on the other side and cut a thin slice halfway down, stopping at the toothpicks. Repeat on opposite side. The slice remains attached between the toothpicks. Using a grapefruit knife, cut around inside edge and remove grapefruit pulp, leaving a shell. Basket may be refrigerated overnight, covered with a damp towel. Before serving, fill baskets with Fresh Fruit Salad. Pull strips up from each side of grapefruit, making handles. Tie handles together with a colored ribbon. Makes 4 baskets. |
