ICICLE PICKLES 
4 gals. cucumbers, cut in narrow strips with seeds removed
1 gal. water

Add 1 pint canning salt to boiling water. Pour over cucumbers and let stand 24 hours. Drain off and add:

1 gal. boiling water
1 heaping tsp. powdered alum

Let stand 24 hours. Mix:

2 1/2 qts. vinegar
8 pts. sugar
1/4 c. mix pickling spice

Bring to a boil. Pour syrup over pickles which have been put in clean hot jars and seal.
