1 lb. can Babbits Lye
1 qt. cold water

Mix to dissolve lye. Add 1/2 pound of Borax and 7 pounds of melted grease. Stir the water into lye slowly. Add 10 cents worth of sassafras and it is ready to mold. Let stand for 2 or 3 days before taking out of mold.
