SCOTTISH SHORTBREAD 
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix shortening and sugar until creamy. Add flour mixture; mix. Refrigerate until easy to handle. Start heating oven to 350 degrees. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until done.

More traditional way - If preferred, pat unchilled dough into 9 inch pie plate. Bake; cut while warm - decorate with fork.
