HAWAIIAN BANANA BREAD 
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2 eggs
1 c. banana puree
1 c. walnuts
1/4 c. dates (chopped)

Stir dry ingredients. Add shortening as for pie crust. Mash bananas. Add well beaten eggs. Fold into dry ingredients very quickly. Do not over mix. Add nuts and dates. (Resembles muffin batter.) Spoon into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
