GNOCCHI A LA ROMAINE 
1 qt. milk
1/2 c. + 1/3 c. butter
1 c. hominy grits (slow cooking)
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 c. grated Romano cheese
1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Bring milk to boil and add 1/2 cup butter. Stir in grits gradually. Resume boil and cook, stirring all the while until mixture resembles cooked farina. Remove from heat and add salt and pepper. Beat hard with electric mixer for 5 minutes until grits take on creamy appearance. Pour into 9"x13"x2" casserole and allow to set. Cut into rectangular pieces. Place them one over the other like rows of dominos in a buttered shallow casserole. Over this, pour 1/3 cup melted butter. Sprinkle with grated cheeses. At serving time, heat in hot oven, 400 degrees, for 30 to 35 minutes. May place under broiler to obtain light brown crust. This dish is great with ham.
