ST. BENEDICT'S BANANA BREAD 
1 1/2 c. flour
2/3 tsp. baking soda
2/3 tsp. salt
1/3 c. soft butter
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. mashed ripe bananas
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sour milk
Chopped walnuts

Sift together flour, soda and salt in large beater bowl. Add butter, sugar, bananas, eggs and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until well mixed. Add sour milk and beat just until mixed. Stir in walnuts if desired.

Bake at 350 degrees in greased and wax paper lined bread pan, either one 9x5 inch pan or two 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch pans. Bake large loaf one hour or small loaves 40-45 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
