TEA CAKES 
1 c. sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp. sweet milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and flavoring. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt and mix well. Add to sugar mixture, then stir in milk. Dip hands in flour and form a small round ball of dough. Put on cookie sheet, flour bottom of glass and flatten the balls of dough. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes or when lightly brown.
