IDA'S CLAM CHOWDER 
5 potatoes
1 onion
4-5 stalks celery

Chop all above ingredients, place in large sauce pan, and cover with enough water to cook. Takes approximately 15 minutes.

2 cans cream of potato soup
2 cans milk - can use evaporated if you like
2 cans minced clams with liquid
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 - 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

After ingredients are heated, add 1 stick of butter mixed with 2 teaspoons cornstarch. Heat and cook until cornstarch and butter are absorbed BUT do not boil at any time. Stir continually. Before serving, sprinkle with parsley.
