VERMONT MAPLE COOKIES | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 c. chopped nuts 1 c. sour cream or undiluted evaporated milk 1 tbsp. maple flavoring 2 3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix shortening, sugars and eggs thoroughly. Add cream and flavoring. Blend in dry ingredients. Chill dough. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes. Icing: Heat 1/2 cup butter until golden brown. Blend in 2 cups sifted powdered sugar and 2 tsp. maple flavoring. Stir in 2 to 4 tbsp. hot milk or water until icing spreads smoothly and ice cookies. |
