VERMONT MAPLE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream or evaporated milk
1 tbsp. maple flavoring
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

Cream shortening, sugars, and eggs. Add sour cream and flavoring. Add dry ingreidents, then nuts. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool and frost.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
2 tsp. maple flavoring
2-4 tsp. hot water

Melt butter. Beat in sugar and flavoring. Add hot water and beat well.
