LADY BALTIMORE CAKE 
3/4 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Whites of 6 eggs, beaten well

Cream butter, beat in sugar gradually. Sift together the flour and baking powder 3 times and add to the butter and sugar alternately with the milk, and add egg whites last.

She always frosted it with a Seven Minute Frosting. The filling was made of about a cup of frosting with chopped raisins and nuts added to it. Here is a similar recipe:

LADY BALTIMORE ICING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar or 1 tbsp. light corn syrup
1/3 c. water
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, cream of tartar, water and egg whites in top of a double boiler. Beat 1 minute on high speed. Place over boiling water. (Water should not touch bottom of pan.) Beat 7 minutes on high. Remove from water. Beat 2 minutes on high speed.

FILLING FOR LADY BALTIMORE CAKE:

1/2 c. raisins, chopped (dates may also be used)
1/2 c. pecans
3 tbsp. brandy

Mix raisins and brandy. Let stand until brandy is absorbed about 1 hour. Add pecans. Stir raisin mixture into 1 cup of frosting. Fill layers. Frost with remaining frosting.
