SWEET & SOUR PORK | |
2 lb. pork steak, cut in 3/4" cubes 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 1/2 c. diced onion 1 lg. green pepper, cut in 3/4" pieces 2 tbsp. wine or cider vinegar 5 tbsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. soy sauce 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add pork and onion. Cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently until pork is brown and onion is soft. Add green peppers, and pineapple (Reserve liquid). Cook about 3 minutes, stirring, until peppers start to soften. Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix pineapple juice, vinegar, soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Reduce heat to moderate. Add liquid mixture to skillet, cook about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until sauce is thickened and clear. Serve over rice. |
