NAVAJO FRY BREAD
3 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
1 c. warm water

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Add milk and mix well. Add water, a little at a time. Knead dough until it is soft - not sticky.

Cover bowl and let stand for 15 minutes.

Make 2-3 inch balls of dough, then roll them out to 1/4 inch thickness. Melt shortening in a fry pan. Drop circles of dough into hot shortening. Fry until bubbles appear on the dough, then turn and fry until golden brown. Remove, drain on paper towel. These are really good rolled in white sugar!
